Moving Forward in Love

There are times in our lives when we find ourselves in situations that seem impossible to overcome. During these times, trials can seem like huge mountains, broad rivers, dry desserts. Sometimes circumstances can paralyze us and prevent us from taking action and moving forward. Since the time the pandemic started, many of us have lived in despair. The racial tensions and divisions that came with the times just added more fear to many who were already facing an uncertain future. Although it’s normal to take time to pause and process the sudden changes we are facing, it’s crucial for us not to stay in that place, but to move forward. Only by moving forward we can recover and see true change.
As Dr. Martin Luther King once said, “Fear is mastered through love. Hate is rooted in fear, and the only cure for fear-hate is love.” This is a principle that can be applied during our present times. We can choose love to motivate us to continue our life journey. Love enables us to see things from a different perspective, to be part of change, to inspire others to move forward. Many believe love is a feeling caused by high levels of oxytocin in our brains. In fact, true love is an action, a commitment, a decision that no matter how we feel that day, we will choose to do what is right for those we love.
Today I write hoping to inspire someone to move past emotions rooted in fear, to make a decision to live in love, to move forward and be the change the world needs. As members of the human race, we are facing this global uncertainty collectively, however we are also in a position to create change based on our individual decisions and by doing so inspiring others to do so also. So today make a decision to be the change the world needs, where there is hate and confusion, plant seeds of love, where there is fear and uncertainty, be that light of hope. Life is short, and we are here together in this season for a reason, make each day count… create change, move forward in love.
